ALSTOM awarded the Steam Turbine Generator &
Auxilliaries package of Cairo North II 750 MW Combined Cycle Power Plant

The consortium formed by ALSTOM and the Spanish INITEC was awarded the
EGP 310 Mn contract for the supply and installation of the 250 MW Steam Turbine
Generator & Auxiliaries of Cairo North II 750 MW Combined Cycle Power
Plant. The signature ceremony took place on 23/10/2004 and was attended by
Minister of Electricity & Energy, Dr. Hassan Younes and by the Chairman of
the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company, Dr. Mohamed Awad. Chairman of the
Cairo Electricity Production Company, Eng. Ahmed EMAM, signed the contract with
representatives of the consortium.
This is the last contract to be signed for Cairo North II which is the most
important power plant in the framework of the Electricity Sector emergency plan
to face growing demand in Greater Cairo which accounts for itself for 35% of
the country's consumption. |
