Power Service Egypt wins
Generator Rotor Rewind Order |

The West Delta Electricity
Production Co, a major utility customer, has awarded PS Egypt an order
amounting to 2.6 M euros to rewind four generator rotors. The scope includes
the rewinding of generator rotors 1-4 at the Abu Qir Power Plant, Egypt.

These rewinds are part of an
ongoing generator lifetime extension and plant optimisation program. In August
2004, a contract was signed to rewind the stators of these four units. Experts
also concluded that the rotor insulation is in bad condition and needs
replacement.
Insulation replacement will extend rotor lifetime for another two decades, and
the combination of the two projects (stator and rotor rewinds) will contribute
to extending the lifetime of the plant’s generators.
Additional benefits include the elimination of forced outages as well as higher
availability and productivity. The Abu Qir Power Plant consists of five steam
turbine units (4x150MW, 1x300MW), supplied by ALSTOM France. |
